Who Cares for your Pets in Case of an Emergency?
Having a plan in place brings peace of mind
If you live alone, there is nothing quite as comforting as having a pet to greet you when you open the door. But, if something were to happen to you, what would become of your pet? It is important to have an emergency plan in place, so your beloved furry friend is taken care of. So we ask, who cares for your pets in case of an emergency?
Daily Check-in Calls With Iamfine
Iamfine is one service available to people who live alone that can be useful to pet owners. The service is set up to call you automatically at the same time every day when you answer you press one if you are fine. If you do not answer, alerts are sent out to your care circle. This system can mean that if something were to happen to you, within hours, someone could be at your home to check on you and your pet. Sign up for our 14-day free trial today!
Wallet Pet Alert Card
For emergencies that may happen when you are away from the house, it is also good to carry a card on you, so someone knows to check on your pet should something happen. Essential information to include on the card is your pet’s name, your home address, an emergency contact person, and the name, address, and phone number of your animal’s veterinarian. The card in your wallet should be enough to alert emergency personnel, but it doesn’t hurt to keep one in your car’s glove box as well!
Window Pet Alert Sign
Something else that can be useful in the event of a house fire, earthquake, or other disaster is a sticker for your front door or front window that says there is a pet in your home. These can be found at most pet stores and usually have blank spots for you to write in if the pet is a dog or a cat and to put how many animals are in your home. Dogs and cats can’t let themselves out of a building in an emergency, so these stickers let firefighters or other emergency responders know there is an animal inside in need of rescuing.
